Leadership Matters: Semler Brossy on People, Pay, and Performance Podcast Series

Roger Brossy has been an executive compensation consultant since 1981. Roger has worked across sectors and seeks to capitalize on insights from factors that drive or impede success in one industry to what affects another.

He was the President of Sibson & Company and served on its Board of Directors for many years before co-founding Semler Brossy Consulting Group in 2001.

Roger also served as Sibson’s Practice Director for Financial Services. Roger is a member of the Dean’s Council for the Gallatin College of New York University.

Blair Jones has 30 years of executive compensation consulting experience. She has worked extensively across industries and has deep expertise in advising boards on company transitions, significant investor concerns, and an expanding human capital management mandate. Before joining Semler Brossy, Blair was the practice leader in Leadership Performance and Rewards at Sibson and an Associate Consultant at Bain & Company.

Blair holds the designations of Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), and Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP). Since 2013, Blair has consistently been named to the D100, NACD Directorship Magazine’s annual list of the most influential people in the boardroom. Blair currently serves on the Mohawk Valley Health System board and leads its Women’s Giving Circle, helping direct philanthropic support to community health initiatives. She also serves on the advisory board for M3 Placement & Partnership.

Bertha Masuda has over 30 years of experience advising boards and top management on compensation strategy, benchmarking, planning, incentive plan design, and implementation. She has worked with companies across a broad range of industries, including financial services, consumer products, manufacturing, and companies in various stages of development, specializing in growth and mid-cap companies and private companies pursuing a value-realizing event. Clients value Bertha’s unique blend of technical expertise and interpersonal skills to guide strategic decisions.

Before joining Semler Brossy, Bertha was a partner emeritus at Compensation Advisory Partners. She also launched and built Vivient Consulting to meet the need for independent, high-quality compensation and performance advice.

Bertha holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley, where she graduated with honors. She also is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).

Austin helps boards make critical decisions about executive pay, especially in moments of rapid growth or reinvention. With over a decade at Semler Brossy, he’s built a reputation for crafting incentive designs that are both analytically sound and refreshingly creative. He reinforces the “golden rule” of pay—that compensation should serve the business, not the other way around—guiding boards to use rewards as a tool to advance their most important strategic goals.

Austin has a unique talent for identifying and addressing the most pressing questions, often anticipating them before they are even posed. He blends rigorous analysis, strategic intuition, and a deep understanding of board dynamics to provide tailored and impactful solutions. Clients appreciate his clarity, composure, and ability to introduce innovative thinking, even in the most complex or sensitive compensation issues.

Before joining Semler Brossy, Austin worked in client services at an HR-focused consulting firm in St. Louis, where he developed his foundational understanding of organizational dynamics and stakeholder needs. Austin earned his B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.

Andrew joined Semler Brossy in January 2021, working alongside Compensation Committees and Management Teams across multiple industries and various stages of business development. He provides support to clients ranging from blue-chip Fortune 100 companies to pre-IPO companies on assorted executive compensation issues, including incentive program design, pay benchmarking, and broader organizational transitions. Andrew graduated from Brown University with a dual BS in Applied Mathematics and Economics.

Nika Regnier is Chief Marketing Officer at Semler Brossy, where she leads the firm’s brand, thought leadership, and client engagement efforts. Her work focuses on strengthening the firm’s market positioning and shaping how its insights connect to the evolving priorities of boards and executive leadership teams—ensuring the firm’s work remains relevant, differentiated, and impactful. Nika also contributes to the firm’s thought leadership on organizational culture, including frameworks that support boards in overseeing culture as a driver of performance and long-term effectiveness.

Nika brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing and business development, including 15 years in professional services. Her expertise spans brand strategy, intellectual property development, communications, client insight, and go-to-market strategy.

Prior to joining Semler Brossy, Nika held leadership roles at SSA & Company and its parent firm, G100 Companies. There, she designed and led executive forums and idea exchanges for CEOs and board members, and developed thought leadership on critical topics including talent, succession, operations, and culture. This work continues to inform her perspective on leadership and governance.

Nika holds a B.A. in Neuroscience and Psychology from Skidmore College and completed a Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program at Harvard Extension School.
