Community Impact at Semler Brossy

Social Impact Team

The Social Impact Team (SIT) was an idea created at our firm’s annual Dream It, Do It (DIDI) event in 2014, and has since grown to include members in both of our offices.

We plan regular events and to give back to our local communities and have partnered with various non-profit organizations ranging from Downtown Women’s Center and School on Wheels in Los Angeles to St. Joe’s Soup Kitchen in New York. We’ve also used internal firmwide events like our fitness challenge to raise money for charities.

We recently implemented a volunteer time off (VTO) policy to further facilitate social activism and philanthropy at the firm on an individual basis. VTO is an employee benefit that gives employees 16 hours each year to volunteer at a charity of their choice, which could range from animal care volunteering to environmental conservation efforts to volunteering with children. Providing time off during employees’ working hours allows employees to explore weekday volunteering opportunities which are often more plentiful and more impactful to charitable organizations than weekend involvement.
